Goals and work modalities: build networks’ capacity and achieve synergy of expertise and competencies within and outside of the CoReMH by mapping available resources as well as assessing needs for, organizing, and delivering trainings.

Subsections/topics (e.g.):

  • design, deliver, and disseminate trainings and workshops for various professionals working with people on the move on topics relevant to migration and mental health such as: trauma and resilience, what it means to be a refugee and to work with refugees, cultural-humility, grief and bereavement, effective approaches for addressing mental health challenges in migration and displacement, and training of trainers
  • generate and deliver training programs for non-professionals, including members of the refugee community, in order to facilitate trauma-informed care and basic service provision, especially in under-resourced areas
  • design and deliver trainings and workshops for relevant stakeholders, including media, to raise awareness and reduce stereotypes, prejudices and misconceptions regarding refugees’ and migrants’ mental health
  • conduct needs assessments within the field of migration and mental health and generate appropriate training materials to bridge those gaps
  • identify and maintain a regularly updated map of resources
  • build critical capacities in young psychologists, doctors, social workers, lawyers, school staff, nurses and other care-providing professionals who hope to work with refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants in the future
  • involve and learn from mental health experts from the countries of origin of the beneficiaries in order to ensure context-specific and culturally adjusted practice
  • focus on prevention of vicarious trauma and burnout for mental health specialists and other care-providing professionals working with people on the move
