CoReMH 20th General Meeting was held

The 20th General Meeting of the network brought together partners from across the region to exchange updates on current migration trends, policy developments, and challenges in supporting refugees and people on the move. Some of the key points discussed include:

  • Refugee arrivals across the Western Balkans remain low, with many people continuing to transit informally and fewer being accommodated in official reception centers.
  • Several countries report reduced humanitarian presence and shrinking resources, as organizations scale down operations due to declining numbers and funding constraints.
  • Migration routes are shifting, with increasing arrivals to Crete from African countries while movements through other routes slow down.
  • Policy changes and stricter migration controls are limiting access to asylum and residency pathways, particularly for undocumented migrants.
  • Living conditions and access to services remain challenging, including limited healthcare coverage, gaps in psychological support, and health risks among new arrivals.
